Coworking operator takes 23,000 square feet in South Jersey

A New York-based coworking firm is entering the Greater Philadelphia market, expanding its reach to South Jersey with a new location in Marlton.

Serendipity Labs is slated to open a 23,000-square-foot coworking space at 50 Lake Center Executive Park in June, occupying the entire third floor.

Unlike beleaguered coworking competitor WeWork, which buys hundreds of thousands of square feet in office space, Serendipity Labs licenses its brand to building owners and then manages the space. The Marlton location is owned by Twenty Lake Holdings.

Coworking is steadily growing in Greater Philadelphia. Coworking spaces take up about 1.1 million square feet of space across 43 locations in Philadelphia’s Center City.

Serendipity Labs offers coworking space, shared offices and team suites with A/V capability, a cafe, and “wellness rooms” that members can use for nursing, prayer or meditation. The Marlton location will have complimentary parking.

A dedicated office for one or two people starts at $960 per month, and a team room for up to 10 people starts at $1,867 per month. Individual memberships start at $49 per month for one monthly visit.

“By partnering with asset owners of office, retail and residential buildings and then managing the Labs, we bring our operational expertise and marketing power, and we assure the upscale service standards of one of the top national flexible workplace networks will be met at every location,” John Arenas, chairman and CEO of Serendipity Labs, said in a statement

Serendipity Labs will operate in more than 40 locations following its latest expansion into Marlton and five other cities. The company is also pursuing opening spaces in the United Kingdom.

In addition to Marlton, Serendipity Labs will open coworking spaces in the following locations in 2020:

  • McKinney, Texas
  • Houston, Texas
  • Memphis, Tennessee
  • Dublin, California
  • Clayton, Missouri

The company also has a coworking space in Ridgewood, New Jersey, located in Bergen County.
